My name is Christie Black; I am a wife and a mother of three grown children and a native Texan. I’ve been blessed to receive a number of awards for my drawings since I started showcasing my art.

From the beginning I loved to draw and create stories. With the creativity of my mom and drawing ability and word play of my dad, a dose of wittiness from one grandma and encouragement from my other grandma my love of drawing led me to make cards for family and friends. As a result people told me I should be selling greeting cards. In 2003 “Christie’s Creations” was started where I sold Christmas card packs by word of mouth.
In 2006, another sister-in-law and brother-in-law ventured out to start a “bee” themed gift shop and asked if I could make some “bee” themed cards to sell. After months of working on this idea (while waiting for the store to be opened), the gift shop venture changed to a Christian bookstore venture (Bee Blessed Christian Bookstore) and the need for just “bee” themed cards was no longer there. By this time though, the “bee” theme was so deeply embedded in my heart that I felt compelled to continue working on them. As I had trouble going to sleep one night, this phrase came to me, “Start an epidemic". At first, I didn’t quite understand what that meant, but after repeating it over and over in my head, I suddenly saw it. ”Start an ep-BEE-demic, spread the word of God!” I then and there realized my newly created “bee” line was to be “A Bee-line for Heaven” using bees of all sorts to spread the word of God.
When one of my sisters-in-law became a midwife, a new avenue for the business was created. Because there was very little on the market, a desire for midwife-assisted and home birth baby announcements was apparent. As a result and with the help of my husband, we started creating affordable, high quality personalized baby announcements and fun birth certificates right out of our own home. Because the drawings truly come from my heart, I felt the name of the company should reflect that. “Creations from the Heart” was born at the end of 2004, and there started our online business.
Over time, new opportunities arose. We were blessed enough to be invited by Dean Kerns, co-founder of Day Spring Greeting Cards to come visit him and tour the Day Spring facilities. We spent the day with him and lunched with him and his wife. He encouraged me to expand beyond the fast changing greeting card market and use my designs on other products as well. I started using third party companies to print my designs on their products and now my designs are sold worldwide! I began selling with Greeting Card Universe in 2007. Zazzle in 2010. In 2012, I teamed up with motivational speaker David A. Carrizales of Little Boy, Big Dreams to illustrate his quotes. Around 2013, I started making things with wood, including my Timber Buddies which were owls wearing shoes. That has evolved to me making hand-painted laser-cut ornaments which we sell at local craft fairs. In 2018, I was asked to be an artist with Trinity Stamps.
Because my talent is a gift from God and the Lord has opened the doors for this business, I see this as my ministry to help others. I’ve worked with many non-profits, creating products that they could sell to beneift their charities. I may not be able to do good for the WHOLE WORLD, but maybe I can do a WORLD OF GOOD in someone’s life!

I am commanded to be a blessing, deigning is my passion and sharing God's love is my pleasure. I hope all of these shine through my work and that you will enjoy sharing my designs as much as I enjoy creating them. Just know that ”YOU” made a difference in someone’s life by doing so.

May the Word "Bee" in your heart,

Christie Black
